Rooted in the ancient classical Hatha style, Shamayoga is an inspired and integrated eclectic approach to learning and teaching yoga in the 21st century.
In many mystical traditions and philosophies such as alchemy and the Cabala, the word shamayim is used to describe the creative force within all living things. Shama, as derived from shamayim, is a word we can use to emphasise the expressive and creative aspect of yoga. Interestingly, implicit within the meaning of the Sanskrit word shama is also the idea of the inner harmony of the whole self: mind, body and feeling. Shama sounds good on any tongue with the first vowel lengthened as in lama.
